Welcome to our Speaker Fix web site. My name is Steve Strawn and I own and operate a home based speaker repair shop in West St. Louis County. We do complete home stereo speaker repair and treat each speaker like it was our own. We know and understand how attached our customers are to their sound systems, most having owned their systems for many years, and when the speakers fail for what ever reason we can help. We specialize in replacement of the foam surround called Re-Edging. The surrounds of many woofers are made from a foam material that eventually fails and needs replacement. This condition is also called woofer rot or foam rot. Operating a speaker with a rotted foam surround will lead to more damage because the woofer cone will no longer be properly aligned causing damage to the voice coil. If this happens your speakers will need to be reconed which means almost all parts of the woofer will have to be replaced. Unless your speakers are very high end it would be more economical to replace the woofer with a woofer of matching specifications. We can provide you with this service also. Even if you don't have us fix the woofer rot problem for you, please get them looked at as soon as possible before more damage to your speakers occur.
Here at Speaker Fix we offer all your speaker repair needs including : Re-Edging, Re-Coning, Component Replacement (woofers, tweeters, midranges, cross overs, etc.) We can also replace old and worn grill cloth or build new grills if yours are damaged or missing. We can repair damaged speaker cabinets (depending on the extent of damage) or build complete new ones. We also sell pre-owned and vintage speakers and occasionally other stereo equipment.
